Good contractors always have liability insurance and good insurance just i case. A perfect example of this is if you hire a company and they don’t have insurance then you can be out a lot of money if there is problems. Who will cover your loses. A good company will make sure that you recieve a copy of there insurance first before they even will loo at your job.

When I start a basement renovation I try to use only the best materials so I know it will last forever at least 25 years. Good renovators try to use only lifetime warranty products.
Basements and bathrooms regular does not cut it. Damp and cold basements need special care so make sure you get somebody good. Example plain drywall is not for basements or bathrooms. They have special drywall for damp places to keep mold and mildew away. When painting in these area’s try using bathroom paint it Last longer!
A good quality subfloor is a great way to save from cold floors and just in case of a flood save most of your renovations. Putting laminate directly on ceament floors is stupid. Cheaper yes, stupuid yes! In the summer months ceament sweats and produces mosture Moisture will destroy Laminate or hardwood in sometimes months. Why spend good money on a floor that would ever Last. Stay with a good Quality subfloor that lets the air pass under it. The best one for this you can get at home depot. It has a rubber back that is Black on the back. Real Hardwood can be used but it is better to use manufactured hardwood there.
Insulation the best is spray foam insulation and make sure it is a fire retarder, mold and mildew resistant, and if you can waterproof. Spray foam is one of the best! After building your walls spray all the outside walls at least 1 1/2 inch thick. If you are using it as a sound proof like a recroom or something Spray 3 inches on the ceiling. It will keep the basement toasty and your renovations last forever. Well I can not give you all the tips but I think you got the piont.
